Course Schedule
The Workshop in Creative Industries offered jointly by the Tallinn University Baltic Film and Media School and Stockholm School of Economics in Riga builds on the concept of creativity as a driving force for economic growth.
The creative industries, which include advertising, art, film, design, new media, music, radio and television and other fields, are becoming an increasingly important element of economic activity internationally. At the same time, these spheres and entrepreneurship are often perceived as two separate fields. The workshop is designed to bridge the concepts of creativity and entrepreneurial thinking. The aim of the workshop is to introduce participants to creative industries as a sector that offers entrepreneurial opportunities, promotes innovation and technological spillovers, and fosters economic growth. It is also designed to show how creativity in itself can be enhanced through entrepreneurial thinking.
The Workshop in Creative Industries will provide participants from both business and creative backgrounds with an opportunity to engage in new experiences of creativity and entrepreneurship via a case-study based learning approach. It will introduce the theoretical foundations of the concept of creative industries, give an overview of the field’s economic impact and focus on a selection of case studies of best practice in the field.
The key-note speaker for the course is writer and policy analyst Kate Oakley from City University London.
The workshop will divide its time between Tallinn, Estonia and Riga, Latvia to offer participants an overview of the wider Baltic region.
