What is CILECT?

CILECT is an international film association, active since 1955. Being accepted to  CILECT gives us a quality mark, gives the school credibility. CILECT is useful to the film school: information exchange, conferences and workshops, development of film study curriculum, exchanging  lecturers and students, job offers. It is like a brotherhood, you get to know everyone in the world and Europe, and you get wind of other’s problems and can share yours.

Partner member status:

Tallinn University Chair of Film and Video and the Media Department of Audentes University created BFM. Before the Chair of Film and Video was small and materially unsecured. Therefore, in 2004 CILECT Helsinki Congress, the school got only the status of a partner member.

What will change after joining CILECT?

Generally, with partnership, we already have half of the certificate. Exchanging information, cooperation and exchange of lecturers was taking place before. By being a full member you get a brand, partnership is still not quite the same. It also gives right to vote in general organisation sessions. Several materials will be sent, once a month also contacts of members, because those change, also official job offers, who is available, who is looking for what lecturer.

At present BMF is having 2 international projects:

Shooting for a documentary project TRIDOC between Belgium, Bulgaria and Estonia  takes place in all three countries. At present, they are shooting in Prangli Island with a Belgian director and a Bulgarian operator. Similarly they were filming in Brussels with an Estonian director and Bulgarian operator. An Estonian operator is participating in shooting in Sofia. The other project ENGAGE comprises of Irish, Scottish and Estonian students; next year also Finland will be roped in. These kinds of projects are very useful, because real connections are established through work.
