Social Protection encourages education and research that promotes knowledge, skills and values of the social work profession. Our graduate and undergraduate programs are interdisciplinary, emphasize multidisciplinary knowledge, the importance of practitioner–client interaction, developing innovative and effective solutions to social problems, providing theories and skills necessary for today's social work practitioner, researcher, or academic, and putting theory into practice.
SP research focuses on professional growth and professionalism of social worker, social protection and social policy in Estonia and Europe, gerontological social work, child welfare and protection, mental health and rehabilitation, deinstitutionalization and community care, social pedagogy related questions. The wide variety of topics offers a chance for an innovative research that advances our field and enhances our practice to improve the well-being of vulnerable individuals and communities.
