|What is a quote?

Quote is literal word to word use of someone else's text.
Even spelling errors have to be quoted quoted!

|When to quote?

Avoid quoting too much!
Generally prefer paraphrasing over quoting! Quote or paraphrase?
Problem: Too long quotes do not support your own argumentation, because in them it is hard for the reader to figure out what you want to point at.
Quote only remarkable phrases!
Aim at a nicely flowing and living text!

|How to use quotation marks

Richmond Writer's web (for novel style)
Do not use complex or embedded quotations in academic text! That's more associated to novel style.

|How much to quote?

As short as possible in academic text! Preferably a concept (2-3) words, unless you are studying the quoted text itself!

|Referring with quotes

Refer to the source, as with paraphrasing.
