Education: Graduated from Tartu University (1975), Ph.D. in Mathematics (1982) in Moscow State University, Theses: "Injective representations of semigroups".

Professional career: Professor of Informatics (from 2006), vice rector of research and developments (1996-2006), professor (1993-1996), docent (1984-1993), teacher and senior teacher (1978-1984).

Sabbaticals: 1986/1987 and 1994 in Oldenburg University, 1998 in Wilfrid Laurier University.
