Incoming Erasmus Staff

Tallinn University School of Humanities welcomes each year a number of colleagues from partner universities within the framework of Erasmus+ teaching mobility. Many of them are regular visitors and come back year after year. Internationalisation is one of the main goals of Tallinn University and one of the strategic priorities of our school. We are very happy to receive our good colleagues who provide invaluable additions to the courses we teach, stimulate discussions of topics related to it (methodology, teaching materials etc.), and share mutual experiences to create the best practices.

Planning your teaching mobility at the School of Humanities

Each year we receive a growing number of requests to come here for teaching mobility. In order to make the process smoother for both those who wish to come here and for us (sometimes people wishing to come here have deadlines at their home university but the information they provide at the initial stage is insufficient for us to make any decision) we kindly ask you to consider the following before making your request:

1. Dates of your visit. Like any university, Tallinn University has its academic calendar which regulates when we have contact classes and when teaching assignments can be done. We do not have teaching in summer, nor during the reading weeks. Please consult our academic calendar to determine when we have suitable classes each term (contact study periods).
2. Contents of your teaching assignments. Like any institution, we do not teach absolutely everything and some topics are difficult to accommodate because they do not fit logically into any of our courses. As the majority of our courses are taught in Estonian, fitting in a component in a foreign language can be a problem. To get a better idea whether your topic would be of interest for us the following can be checked:

• What courses we offer for our incoming Erasmus students, as those would be taught in a foreign language. Please find the list of courses here.
• What courses our curricula have (here some further enquiries concerning the language of tuition might be necessary). Please find BA courses here and MA courses here.

These nominal distributions of courses help to see how each curriculum is taught during the study period (3 years for BA, two years for MA) and might be useful when planning ahead when your mobility would suit best you, your home university and us.

Mobility of academic staff for training

Often academic colleagues wish to come here not to teach but as staff for training. Mostly these activities consist of visiting classes and exchanging ideas with our staff on various teaching related matters (methods and materials used etc.). For such activities the same applies as for teaching activities and one should familiarise oneself first with the possible dates and what courses we have running at that time.
