Abstract: Paulo Freire’s (1921–1997) political vision and contribution to critical literacy have inspired millions of educators, community activists and policymakers around the world to rethink their relationship with the human and natural world.  This presentation will respond to the question of the relevance of Freire to today’s, social, economic, cultural, ethical and ideological challenges, as lived across cultures and societies.  It will also discuss the viability of Freire-inspired pedagogies in a world where liquidity and human redundancy and disposability are informing social relations.
