The individual is at the centre of all the fields of activity - whether it be his or her development or the individual’s interrelationship with the environment or society. Everything starts with an individual - developments, attitudes and the world of the future.
The story of Tallinn University dates back to the 16th century with the library established at the St Olaf’s Church. The university has now grown into a strong multicultural educational establishment. The university was established in its present form by a Directive of the Riigikogu on 18th March 2005 when a number of Tallinn higher education and academic institutions were consolidated into a single institution.
In this consolidation, each new member contributed its own values to the university, and it is this collective contribution that now enables the univer- sity to be a leader and developer of smart lifestyle in Estonia. As a result, the university has directed its resources and activities into five broad interdisci- plinary focus fields, integrating different research and study fields. The focus fields are in compliance with the fundamental challenges facing the modern world, where knowledge-based solutions are particularly important.
