Conclusion

Despite the close focus on the actions of leaders and the innumerable myths and texts devoted to the stories that describe their characters and the challenges they face, a true understanding of the ingredients that make for both effective and ethical leadership remains elusive. Everyone longs for a magic formula, and there is none (Beerel, 2009, p.62).

It should be also noted that our conceptions of leadership is also influenced by the times. The idea of leadership is not only a personal construction, but a social one that reflects the social consciousness of the day, For example, in times of war we want warriors and heroes, in times of peace we want philosophers and caretakers (Beerel, 2009, p.63).

However, a great leader is one who challenges the conventional wisdom of the day and is able to see things differently and change the world around us.
