Leadership versus Management and Emerged Leadership
Introduction: Views on Leadership and Management
Leadership and management are
important concepts in human resource management literature. However,
there are confusion between these terms. Some commentators use these
terms interchangeably as if they are
synonymous with one another, while others believe that they are quite
different. Still others regard leadership as a subset of the management
(McCaffery, 2004, p.58). Beairsto (2003, p.2) uses the term
‘administration’ to
subsume the constituent processes of management and leadership. He
believes
that management and leadership are the two sides of the same
administrative
coin (p.20).

Watch the following videoclips and think and reflect: Are the leadership and management synonymous with one another or are these different concepts?
