The Graduate School of Culture Studies and Arts (GSCSA) is a joint venture of four Estonia universities: Tallinn University (coordinator of GSCSA), University of Tartu, Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and Estonian Academy of Arts. The GSCSA was established in 2009 and to advance the academic level of PhD programmes of culture studies and arts in Estonia, and to integrate institutionally and administratively separate researchers of culture. The aim of the position is to provide an introduction to the current issues of posthuman studies, covering the following topics: 1. What is the difference between trans- and critical posthumanism; 2. What is the non-dualist understanding of human beings; 3. AI as social, cultural and ethical challenge; 4. Cyborgs as social, cultural and ethical Challenge; 5. Genome editing as social, cultural and ethical Challenge; 6. The arts and the posthuman. The seminar by Guest Lecturer should include both lectures and seminar discussions with participants.

Requirements for an applicant:

Expertise in Posthuman Studies

Research experience at the international level.

Application procedure:

Application for the Guest Lecturer is submitted on March 28, 2022, latest.

The application must contain an overview of the previous activities of the Guest Lecturer (CV, including previous research projects) and answer to the following questions:

Applicant's name and surname

Applicant's workplace (university)

Applicant's expertise in Posthuman Studies

Overview of the applicant's previous activities as a guest lecturer (incl. previous research projects)

Aim and length of the applicant's intensive seminar as the guest lecturer (incl. the fee gross he/she would like to obtain)

Applicants ability to conduct the intensive course in May 2022

The applicant has a PhD in humanities (philosophy, anthropology, cultural theory, etc)

Applicant's research experience is at an international level

Covered expenses:

Travel costs to Tallinn and back.

Accommodation in Tallinn.

Catering during the intensive course.

Selection process:

The applications will be assessed by the head of GSCSA council at Tallinn University.

The successful applicant will be announced within a month after the application deadline.
