Freud's Last Hypnosis - Confirming Emotion-Based Actions in Cinematic VR

Using its 360 VR film “Freud's Last Hypnosis” as a case study, the experimental project models the emotion-based response of film viewers by specifying the parameters of the viewer's engagement with the narrative. The project is based on the Emotive Cinema concept and the integration of the neurotechnological Emotive VR headset with an electroencephalogram (EEG) device, with the aim of measuring the viewer's brain signals in real time.
The project will identify sets of behavioral and physiological measurements to correlate viewer mental states and emotion-based interactions with the temporal and narrative unfolding of the film. The results are applied to validate the interpretation of EEG data collected with 360 VR movies.
In short, the project enables the validation of the subconscious mental states of the viewer, primarily by iteratively testing the Emotive VR prototype, but more importantly, it increases the conceptual and theoretical understanding of the active dynamics of emotion-driven cinema stories in general.
