Discover Science Kitchen - one space, endless possibilities
The SCIENCE KITCHEN is designed to support a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to learning. Here, the science lab, classroom, and kitchen are seamlessly integrated, creating an ideal environment for the free flow of ideas and collaboration.
The Science Kitchen is located on the ground floor of Tallinn University’s Mare building (Uus-Sadama 5) in a 100m² open-plan space. There are six fully equipped workstations suitable for food preparation, one of which includes a camera for demonstrating techniques; movable tables are suitable for group work, discussions, and dining. The Science Kitchen is equipped with modern kitchen appliances, as well as basic laboratory equipment. The room features up-to-date presentation tools.
Advantages of the open-plan space
The primary advantage of the Science Kitchen's open and dynamic environment is its flexibility. The space easily adapts to the needs of every activity and group, allowing for a smooth transition from individual work to group discussions. Synergy is created within the physical space – theory and practice are in constant dialogue. The open space supports collaboration, encouraging active communication and teamwork among students, teachers, and teams alike.
Come and experience for yourself how this environment supports your learning process!

Learn with others
In the Science Kitchen, we always encourage collaboration and discussion, because the best ideas are born precisely when different areas of knowledge converge. Movable work surfaces and a flexible space layout allow for sharing thoughts, learning from each other, and discovering different processes related to cooking together.
Whether you are a teacher, student, researcher, or team member – here you learn and develop with others, creating a deeper and more meaningful understanding of the topic at hand.
The joy of cooking in a modern kitchen
The Science Kitchen is equipped with modern kitchen appliances that allow you to take your cooking skills to a new level. Each workstation offers everything you need, from high-quality baking to the application of more complex culinary techniques. Using the best tools, you can create not just dishes, but delicious discoveries to surprise yourself and your companions. Come and apply your knowledge in practice, so that new skills as well as new culinary experiences are born.
In addition to the appliances familiar from a regular home kitchen, the Science Kitchen's equipment includes a steam oven, a smart cooktop, a smoking gun, a food dehydrator, a sous-vide cooker, a vacuum sealer, a kitchen torch, pasta machines, siphons, and a smoothie bike.
