(ESSE) Empowerment of Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem
In line with the European Entrepreneurship Competence Framework, it is widely recognized in the European context nowadays that it is extremely important to support professionals through skill building opportunities. In addition, since the European Commission recognized the need to empower the Social Economy, the launch of the Social Economy Action Plan (December 2021) will be in the focus of the financial development in the coming years. The Action Plan aims to help the European social economy to thrive, to tap into its economic and job-creation potential and to contribute to a fair and inclusive recovery after Covid-19 era. Under these conditions, ESEE project aims at achieving the following concrete objectives:
1. Awareness and Education: Raise awareness about social entrepreneurship as a viable and impactful approach to addressing social and environmental challenges.
2. Capacity Building: Develop and enhance the skills, knowledge, and capabilities of NGOs’ and charitable organisations’ staff interested in social entrepreneurship.
3. Policy Advocacy: Advocate for supportive policies and regulatory frameworks that enable the growth and sustainability of social enterprises.
4. Networking and Collaboration: Facilitate networking opportunities and collaboration among NGOs, charitable organisations, institutions and individuals interested in social entrepreneurship.
5. Funding and Financial Support: Search for good practices at European level regarding mechanisms that provide financial support to social entrepreneurs, such as grants, seed funding, impact investment and affordable loans.
6. Research and Knowledge Dissemination: Conduct desktop research on the local (Cypriot) context and the European level, social challenges, and best practices in social entrepreneurship.
7. Public Engagement and Collaboration: Engage the broader community and promote the importance of social responsibility.

Project partners: Nicosia Volunteerism Coordinative Council and Tallinn University
Role/responsibility of Tallinn University: TLU is participating as a partner in this project. The role of the TLU is to offer training to potential social entrepreneurs by experts in the field. Contributing and conducting the desktop research; Management, coordination and implementation of other project activities.
