PhD General courses
U
niversity-wide courses are doctoral-level subjects designed to enhance general knowledge, transferable skills, and competencies crucial for doctoral research. These courses cover a wide range of topics, including research ethics, higher education didactics, intellectual property protection, research project management, oral and written communication skills, and career planning. Academic units and the Research Administration Office are responsible for organising and delivering these courses.
Doctoral students have the flexibility to choose any courses from the university-wide course list as elective or individual courses to tailor their studies to their specific needs. In consultation with their supervisor, doctoral students may also consider completing university-wide courses as part of other modules within their study program.
University-wide courses offered by the Schools (4-6 ECTS)
Academic units organize various university-wide courses for doctoral students to support the competencies required for completing a doctoral dissertation. These courses are typically 4-6 ECTS credits. If a course is offered in Estonian, it must also be possible to complete it in English. The schedule is confirmed at least two academic years in advance to allow doctoral students to better plan their studies.
