Prof Dr Varvara Guljajeva introduces STACK Lab at VCUarts Qatar, a research initiative investigating the material infrastructures behind artificial intelligence, including energy, minerals, data centres, labour, and global supply chains. She will also present a project from the Research & Production I course, where students use a robotic arm to explore human–robot interaction through the question “What does it mean to be human?” Both approaches use practice-based artistic research to critically examine our relationships with emerging technologies.
