Elis Rumma's short film "Come Sit With Us" participates in prestigious festivals
Elis Rumma's final film of the 14th flight of BFM cinema "Come Sit With Us" will be screened at the Cameraimage international film festival and has also been selected for the PÖFF Shorts national competition program.

The short film "Come Sit With Us" is an adaptation of Piret Raud's short story "Bench". In addition, the film also reflects the author Elis Rumma's personal experience of the confrontation between social ties and individualism. The director says that the film reflects the situations in which he has experienced difficulties in navigating, in which he feels that he has to sacrifice a part of his personality in order to stay afloat. The film deals with toxic close relationships and Rumma has tried to convey it as simply and clearly as possible, without burdening the audience with symbols. The author says that he has tried to apply elements of genre film in his work, which he became interested in during his studies at Tallinn University's Institute of Baltic Film, Media and Arts (TLÜ BFM).
The film's story cleverly leads the audience to its doomed end point, with a tense atmosphere accompanying the protagonist at every turn. Anxiety slowly seeps under your skin, inevitably leaving you in a hopeless situation when it's too late.
Synopsis: It's Midsummer's Eve and Lola in her twenties, who has just moved to the countryside, has come to the midsummer bonfire with her partner. Local women invite Lola to the bench next to them to make acquaintances. He doesn't want to seem arrogant and accepts their invitation. At first, all women's concerns are foreign to him, but as the evening progresses, he begins to doubt his previous perspectives and, as a result of the long benching, he grows up with the country women in his own way.
The director hopes that the film will make the viewer question their everyday relationships and open an important discussion with the question: "How much are we really ready to change the course of our story?"
Actors Maria Teresa Kalmet, Saara Pius, Laura Peterson and Tiina Kukli are in the main roles in the film. The film premiered in June 2024. Cameraimage festival takes place from 16 to 23 November in Poland, in the city of Torun. PÖFF will take place from 8 to 24 In November in Tallinn and Tartu.
