Applications will open on December 2, 2024, and close on February 16, 2025.

This program offers more than a traditional education—it is a transformative journey for individuals passionate about using artificial intelligence (AI) to address global sustainability challenges. AISS provides students with the tools to blend technological innovation with participatory design and sustainable thinking, shaping solutions that directly involve and benefit communities.

At the heart of the program lies a commitment to creating AI-driven, data-informed solutions that promote environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Beyond technical expertise, students graduate with a deep understanding of how to design collaboratively, engaging citizens to ensure the societal relevance and inclusivity of their work.

AISS is a collaborative initiative between three prominent universities, each offering a distinct degree upon graduation. Students will earn:

  • A Master of Arts in Social Sciences (MA) from Tallinn University in Estonia,
  • A Master of Science in Sustainable Information Technologies (MSc) from Lusófona University in Portugal, and
  • A Master of Social Science from Tampere University in Finland.

These degrees, fully accredited by national and international agencies, reflect the program's robust academic foundation and its emphasis on both interdisciplinary education and real-world application.

Since its inception, the AISS program has drawn students from across the globe. The inaugural cohort represented countries as diverse as the Philippines, Kenya, the United States, Iran, Germany, Yemen, Tajikistan, Costa Rica, and Turkey. This multicultural environment fosters cross-cultural collaboration, equipping students with the perspectives needed to address global challenges effectively.

Similar to the previous year, the program will also offer scholarships to the ten most exceptional candidates during the 2025/2026 academic year, providing financial support to cover tuition fees and additional funding to assist with living expenses. This scholarship program underscores AISS’s commitment to empowering talented students, regardless of their financial circumstances.

The AISS program offers more than an education—it’s a chance to become part of a global effort to shape a sustainable future. Whether you dream of advancing AI technology for renewable energy, designing inclusive urban spaces, or creating data-driven policies for environmental preservation, AISS provides the platform to make your vision a reality.
