Journey and journeying shape social practices, forms of knowledge, narrative devices and experiences of the world. They involve movements, thresholds and metamorphoses that may open up, dislocate or transform, while also introducing discontinuities in perception, narration and thought. Transformation, however, is neither automatic nor linear: journeying may entail waiting, suspension or blockage, as in experiences of migration, exile or forced immobility.

Alongside desired or socially valued journeys, the conference addresses mobilities marked by inequality, constraint and asymmetry, focusing on the fractures they produce in experience and narration. Particular attention is given to the relationship between experience and narration, conceiving the journey as story, reworked memory and situated, relational experience.
