Conference „What Moves Society – German Studies in the Nordic Countries and the Baltics“
The conference is organised by the Aue Foundation (Helsinki), the University of Oulu, and Tallinn University (Department of German Studies and the research project Memory and Environment), in cooperation with the Finnish DAAD Alumni Association. The aim of the conference is to bring together scholars in the fields of language and culture, politics, and history in order to exchange ideas, present ongoing research, and build networks.

The keynote speakers will be Professor Mathias Albert, Associate Professor Maris Saagpakk, and Dr Benjamin Schweitzer.
The Call for Abstracts is open until 28 February 2026. Abstracts (up to 2,500 characters) must be submitted in German, while presentations may be delivered in English. Contributions should address German Studies in the fields of politics, history, or language and culture; presentations focusing on ongoing or planned research projects are especially welcome. Authors will be notified of acceptance by 15 March 2026. Abstracts should be sent to: seminar@aue-stiftung.org.
