Guest lecturer Rodrigo Aguilar Benignos of the Council on Foreign Relations will discuss Latin America’s current political situation, as well as the broader forces shaping the region’s future.

What direction is Latin American politics taking following the recent elections in Brazil and Colombia? How will the United States’ new Monroe Doctrine shape its relations with the region? What role will China’s growing influence, organized crime, changes in the labour market and the climate crisis play in Latin America’s development?

The lecturer will analyse the balance between left- and right-wing forces, Mexico’s geopolitical position, and the review of the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA).
