Project “A Dozen Questions about Estonia” is ready! It is a joint project of the Baltic Film and Media School and the Estonian Institute, introducing Estonia and Estonians through the answers, film clips, blogs and language tests, all inspired by the 12 questions about Estonia.
“A Dozen Questions about Estonia” is a format created by the Estonian Institute, which consists of various questions that people interested in Estonia might have. The answers to the questions cover different fields of interest, starting from Estonian geography and nature and finishing with song festivals, history and leisure activities. The text is illustrated by photographs.
The first booklets with the 12 questions were published in 1999 and they received a wider exposure at the EXPO in Hannover in 2000. These publications have been distributed all over the world at different promotional events about Estonia and through Estonian diplomatic missions. As of today, the booklet is one of the most widely spread of its kind about Estonia and has been published in Spanish, Dutch, Hungarian, English, Italian, German, Greek, Welsh, Portuguese, Polish, French, Chinese, Russian, Turkish, Swedish and Finnish.
In addition to the original text of 12 questions the web page also consists of 12 short films made by the students of the Baltic Film and Media School. Although the films are related to the original questions, they do not try to find the answers to the questions, but are rather telling a story of their own. The texts together with the films give an overview with a twist of the different spheres of Estonia and the nature of Estonians.
