The Next Rector of Tallinn University is Tõnu Viik

Today, on 1 February, the Electoral Body voted Distinguished Professor of Philosophy Tõnu Viik as the next Rector of Tallinn University for the period of 2021–2026.

The next rector of Tallinn University is Tõnu Viik

 Tõnu Viik recieved 57 votes from the Electoral Body and current Vice-Rector for Reseach Katrin Nigas recieved 36 votes. The new rector will be inaugurated on 17 May. Until then, the university is headed by the Acting Rector Priit Reiska.

Tõnu Viik graduated from Moscow Lomonossov State University and received his Ph.D. from Emory University, Atlanta. His present research is devoted to cultural phenomenology focusing on socially conditioned meaning-formation processes and his research areas are phenomenology, cultural theory and philosophy of culture.
