Sitting kills! Get up and move more

In today’s One-Minute lecture, Associate Professor Kristjan Port, Director of the TU Institute of Health Sciences and Sports, discusses the importance of sitting less and moving more.

“People believe that if they engage in vigorous exercise after they leave their work, they get rid of their problems – this is incorrect; actually, people who sit all day hurt themselves even more in training,” explained Port. “Sitting poses a very significant risk for health. The less we sit during the day, the better.”

Kristjan Port is one of the contributors in the new “Train consciously” lecture series for hobby athletes organized by the TU Institute of Health Sciences and Sports. Everybody can participate in the health lectures; a more precise time schedule of lectures is available here: www.tlu.ee/tsi
