Jüri Kurvits

I am a senior lecturer in mathematics didactics and head of the teacher of mathematics master's programme.
My work focuses on pre-service and in-service mathematics teacher education, as well as research and development in mathematics teaching and learning.
My main areas of research and development include teachers’ professional competence and its development, teachers’ situation-specific skills, and instructional quality. I am also interested in the development of mathematical concepts and conceptual understanding, students’ cognitive engagement, and self-regulated learning.
My work focuses on the assessment of mathematical competence, including e-assessment, and the use of educational technology in mathematics education. My teaching areas include mathematics, mathematics didactics, educational technology and learning sciences, as well as the planning and adaptation of teaching and learning.
I am also a board member of the Nordic Society for Research in Mathematics Education(NoRME).
