Introduction
Ayan Shamchiyeva has an interdisciplinary academic background in business and environmental management and over five years of experience across NGO and corporate settings as an environmental specialist, project coordinator, mentor, and trainer. As a certified Carbon Literacy trainer and mentor, she has supported organisations, communities, and schoolchildren in strengthening environmental awareness and climate action capacity. Her experience also includes state-level environmental and climate activism, including work related to Nationally Determined Contribution review processes.
She is currently involved in the ERA Chair in Sustainable Futures (SustainERA) (https://sustainera.tlu.ee/) project at Tallinn University, supported by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme. Her research interests include corporate and organisational sustainability, net-zero transitions, NDCs, women’s empowerment, and post-growth approaches.
