Rõõmsad üliõpilased

All international students have the possibility to apply for a peer supporter - a student buddy - before arriving. They are students of Tallinn University who help international students settle in to the academic environment at the university and Tallinn in general. Student buddies usually help new students during their first weeks of stay. And maybe you will find a friend for a lifetime!

New student at Tallinn University - apply for a buddy!

You are a new student at TLU and would like to have a buddy to help you adjust with local life and studies in Tallinn University - please apply for a student buddy (latest by August 5 for the Autumn Semester and January 5 for the Spring Semester). Your buddy will contact you by e-mail in mid-August if you are coming for the Autumn Semester and mid-January if you are coming for the Spring Semester.

Please consider that all student buddies work with a group of international students. Being students themselves, they can be there to support you and help you find the right people and information but you are still responsible yourself for your studies, finding accommodation and doing all the necessary paperwork.

Student buddies can also welcome you upon arrival at the airport/central bus station/harbour. This can most easily be done if you arrive between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. However, since it is a busy time for all of us, your buddy might just help you with instructions on how to arrive. Please note that you have to pay yourself for the transportation to the place of your accommodation.

TLU student - become a student buddy!

You have recently studied abroad as an exchange student and you had a local student who was helping you with all your questions and concerns in your host university, or you missed having such a student who you could turn to? Perhaps you would just like to meet people from other cultures, be their guide and friend in Tallinn University?

We would be very happy to welcome you in our team of student buddies. Student buddies are gathered under Tallinn University International Club. If you have decided to become a buddy, please contact the International Club via Facebook, or by email icvice@esindus.ee  or ic@esindus.ee. Apart from having a great buddy student experience, joining the International Club gives you new contacts, valuable communication and councelling experiences, language practice and event organising skills.

As a buddy, you will take a course "Tutoring at University“ which gives 4 ECTS. The study sessions take place in the middle of August and in the middle of January. For more information about the training, please contact the Incoming Exchange Students Coordinator at exchange@tlu.ee.

Next training takes place on January 15-17, 2024!
