Global geopolitics has entered a period of significant transformation in recent years. Against this evolving international environment, how does China perceive the current global situation? This lecture examines the strategic thinking China has developed in the areas of military security, economic security, and international norm-building as it pursues its long-term objective of becoming a “modern socialist power” by the centenary of the People’s Republic in 2049. Focusing on China’s internal perspectives, the lecture analyzes China’s relationships with the United States, Russia and Ukraine, EU, Japan, and North Korea as structures in which shared interests and tensions coexist.
