Principles and Procedure for Granting Tuition Fee Discounts for English-Medium Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Programmes in the 2027/2028 Academic Year

The purpose of the tuition fee discount is to promote studies in English-medium programmes and thereby increase the number of students enrolling in them. The amount of the discount is 1,600 euros per semester.

To qualify for the tuition fee discount, the candidate must have submitted their application by February 1st.

• The tuition fee discount rate is 100% per semester. The discount is granted once upon admission for two semesters. The discount is awarded within three weeks after the deadline for the submission of documents by European Union applicants.
• For the first semester, the tuition fee discount is granted on the basis of the ranking established according to the admission examination results. The two students receiving the discount are selected by a committee composed of the heads of the English-medium study programme and the head of studies. One candidate from each English-medium study programme is considered. The admissions committee of each English-medium study programme identifies the best-performing student on the basis of the admission examination results and, where necessary, also takes into account previous academic results, prior study- or work-related experience relevant to the study programme, and the applicant’s motivation to study in the respective study programme.
• From the third semester onwards, a prerequisite for granting the tuition fee discount is the completion of previous studies at a minimum volume of 30 ECTS credits per semester and the continuation of studies in the following semester. Students who have completed the study program in full or exceeded the full study load are considered equal in the ranking for granting the discount.
• When calculating the weighted average grade (WAG), all results recorded on the applicant’s academic transcript and awarded on a differentiated grading scale are included, including initial results where a course has been retaken one or more times.
• In the event of an equal WAG, the admission examination results are taken into account additionally. If these are also equal, preference is given to the student whose academic results include a higher proportion of examinations passed with higher positive grades.
• Payment of the discount is terminated by an order of the head of studies if the student goes on academic leave or is exmatriculated from the university.
• The school has the right to take other circumstances into account when granting the discount (e.g. issuance of a warning related to inappropriate conduct or violation of academic practices, repeated debt in the student’s payment behaviour, etc.).
• If a discount is granted and/or paid to a student in error, the student is not entitled to the erroneously granted and/or paid discount. Once the error becomes apparent, payment of the discount is terminated, and any discount already paid must be repaid by the student to the university without delay.
