Digital Transformation in Focus: CIUEM Hosts Digital Transformation Lab with Tallinn University
CIUEM at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane hosted a two-day Digital Transformation Lab with Tallinn University, bringing staff together to reflect on institutional practices and co-design future transformation pathways.
The Centre for Informatics of Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (CIUEM) hosted the “Digital Transformation Lab” on 19–20 March 2026, in collaboration with Tallinn University. The two-day participatory workshop brought together staff to reflect on institutional experiences and co-design approaches to digital transformation.
The Lab was facilitated by Débora C. Firmino de Souza, supporting a structured process that combined retrospective analysis with future-oriented design. Participants first mapped their day-to-day experiences within CIUEM, identifying challenges and opportunities. This was followed by the use of the “Digital Transformation Wheel” to articulate desired changes and refine proposals through collective discussion.
In the final phase, groups translated ideas into actionable pathways using storyboard techniques, outlining how proposed solutions could be implemented within CIUEM.
The initiative contributes to ongoing efforts at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane to advance a systemic approach to digital transformation, integrating technology with processes, people, and governance. It also reinforces CIUEM’s role as a key driver of digital transformation within the institution and the broader higher education ecosystem in Mozambique.
