Eugen Tamberg received a Jussi Award
Eugen Tamberg, a visiting lecturer at the Baltic Film, Media and Arts School and head of the film arts program, won in the Best Costume Design category at the Jussi Awards.
On March 20, the Finnish film awards ceremony, the Jussi Awards, took place at the Messukeskus Helsinki. There, Eugen Tamberg — visiting lecturer at the BFM and head of the film arts program — received a Jussi Award for Best Costume Design for the film “You Are Not Alone” / “Ei koskaan yksin” (2024).
“You Are Not Alone” tells a long-silenced story of Finland’s Jewish community during World War II, when Finland aligned with Nazi Germany in its fight against the Soviet Union. The film’s protagonist, Abraham Stiller, stands up for the Jewish community, risking both his own safety and that of others.
The film is a co-production between Estonia, Finland, Austria, Germany, and Sweden. In Estonia, it received production support from the Estonian Film Institute, Film Estonia cash rebate, and the Cultural Endowment of Estonia. The director is Finnish filmmaker Klaus Härö, also known for "The Fencer" (2015).
This was a second Jussi Award for Eugen Tamberg. He won the first Jussi Award in 2021 for the biographical drama "Tove".
The Jussi Award is one of Europe’s oldest film awards, given out since 1944.
Congratulations, Eugen Tamberg!
