A five-member University of Ghana delegation visits Tallinn University
Tallinn University (TLU) welcomed a five-member delegation from the University of Ghana (UG) from 8-13 June 2026 as part of ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation between the two institutions. The delegation, comprising two professors (Simon-Peter Kafui Aheto and Isaac Kofi Biney) and three course administrators (Mrs Grace Mary Annan, Mrs Dorothy Naa Amanua Barnor and Mrs Vida Korkor Amartey), was officially received by Tiit Vapper, Director of the School of Digital Technologies.
The primary purpose of the visit was to participate in intensive training for the administrators on the implementation of the ELU/LIFE (Learning in Interdisciplinary Focus Environment) course model at the University of Ghana's Distance Education Department. The training sessions were facilitated by Priit Reiska, Kaisa-Janne Eigi, Martin Siloats and Mari Uusküla, who shared practical insights and strategies for integrating interdisciplinary learning based on Tallinn University's successful ELU/LIFE course model.

Beyond the professional development activities, the mobility programme incorporated cultural and historical engagement opportunities designed to strengthen ties between the Estonian and Ghanaian partners. The delegation visited the Vabamu Museum of Occupations and Freedom to gain a deeper understanding of Estonia's history and its journey to freedom. The delegates also visited the e-Estonia Briefing Centre to learn more about Estonia's digital development. In addition, participants took part in an international food fair where Estonian and Ghanaian dishes were prepared collaboratively, offering an opportunity for mutual learning and cultural exchange.
Meanwhile, plans are well advanced for rolling out a joint teaching scheme for the University of Ghana's new programmes in Digital Learning Games and Educational Technology, and the visit provided an opportunity for further discussion. The delegation also took the occasion to express appreciation to the university community for its support and extended an invitation to TLU to participate in the 2027 Annual New Year School and Conference, which will take place in January 2027.
As part of efforts to deepen TLU-UG cooperation, two students from the University of Ghana, Regina Afari-Boateng (doctoral student) and Prisca Sefakor Siale (master's student), have been participating in the Erasmus+ student exchange programme since January 2026 and will return to Ghana in July 2026.
