Rein Müllerson was elected President of the most prestigious law organisation

President of Tallinn University Law School, Professor Rein Müllerson was elected President of the most prestigious law organisation in the world, Institute of International Law (Institut de Droit International).

President of Tallinn University Law School, Professor Rein Müllerson was elected President of the most prestigious law organisation in the world, Institute of International Law (Institut de Droit International).

Rein Müllerson replaces Hisashi Oada as the President; Hisashi Oada is a well-known Japanese lawyer and diplomate, who has recently been the Japanese Ambassador in USA and President of the International Court of Justice of UN, he is also a family member of the Japanese Emperor.

Indian lawyer and diplomate, Sreenivasa Rao, was elected Vice President of Institute of International Law.

Professor Müllerson has been a member of the organisation since 1995 and is the only member from Estonia, as well as the only member from the former Soviet Union territory till date.

Institute of International Law  was founded in 1873 and currently has 130 members elected for life.

The hearing of the Institute ended last week in Tokyo, the next one will be in Tallinn, in autumn of 2015.

Professor Rein Müllerson is the President of Tallinn University Law School, Estonian Law Researcher and Lecturer. He has worked in London University King’s College, London School of Economics and Political Science, Columbia University, National University of Moscow, Human Rights Committee of UN, and as the advisor of international law for Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Russian SFSR (M. Gorbachev). Rein Müllerson is also a member of several international academic journal panels, and a member of Institut de Droit International.
