Canon Europe President and CEO visited BFM

At BFM, Canon Europe President and CEO Shinichi Yoshida explored the institute’s technical facilities, including the TV and audio studios, and visited the film pavilion, blackbox and editing rooms. He also learned about the film and audiovisual media curricula and FilmEU’s activities.

Yoshida met with audiovisual media and film students at Supernova Cinema, which is also Estonia’s first 4K cinema. The meeting focused on Canon’s development directions, the challenges facing the industry, and the company’s future plans. The students also had the opportunity to ask Yoshida questions.

Yoshida was welcomed at BFM by the institute’s director, Ivo Lille; technical director and editing lecturer Tarmo Rajaleid; Tallinn University EXU communications expert and research fellow Ermo Säks; head of the film arts program Veiko Vaatmann; and head of the audiovisual media program Mart Raun. Representatives of Overall Eesti, Märt Haamer and Tõnis Haamer, also took part in the visit.

This was Yoshida’s first visit to Estonia. In addition to BFM, he visited the Tallinn offices of Tallink and Overall Estonia and explored Tallinn’s Old Town.

BFM and Overall Eesti have been cooperating for more than ten years. The partnership began in 2013, when a Canon EOS C500 system was introduced into teaching. In 2026, BFM will acquire eight EOS C50 camera kits for use in basic training, specialised courses and student productions.

It also uses Canon CR-N series robotic-cameras in its main conference facility at Tallinn University. Together with Overall Eesti, Tallinn University has also implemented a centrally managed print infrastructure using Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices, with uniFLOW for staff and Overall Eesti’s Print In City solution for students and public users.
