Tallinn University to Host the World Communication Association Conference in 2027
Tallinn University Baltic Film, Media and Arts School (BFM) will host the World Communication Association (WCA) Conference from 10 to 14 June 2027, welcoming communication scholars, researchers and practitioners from around the world to Estonia.
The conference represents an important milestone for BFM and its MA Programme in Communication Management, further strengthening the school’s international profile in communication research and education. Bringing together leading scholars and professionals from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds, the conference will provide a unique platform for exchanging ideas, discussing emerging trends in communication research and practice, and fostering new international collaborations.
As part of the preparations for the event, Professor Stephen Croucher (Clemson University, South Carolina), President of the World Communication Association, and Professor Stephanie Kelly (Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics, North Carolina A&T State University), Chief Financial Officer of the Association, visited Tallinn University during the first week of July 2026.
During their visit, they met with Helen Pärna from the Tallinn University Conference Centre, who introduced the university’s conference facilities and discussed arrangements for hosting the international event. They also met with Dr Anastassia Zabrodskaja, Professor of Intercultural Communication at Tallinn University Baltic Film, Media and Arts School and Head of the MA Programme in Communication Management.
Professor Zabrodskaja highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen communication studies at BFM and emphasized that hosting the World Communication Association Conference reflects the school’s commitment to academic excellence, international cooperation and innovative research.
“Hosting the World Communication Association Conference at Tallinn University is an exciting opportunity to bring together leading scholars from across the globe. We are delighted to collaborate with BFM and look forward to an inspiring conference that will encourage meaningful academic dialogue and international partnerships,” said Professor Stephen Croucher, President of the World Communication Association.
Professor Zabrodskaja added: “Welcoming the World Communication Association to Tallinn University is a significant recognition of our growing international engagement in communication research and education. The conference will create valuable opportunities for our students, researchers and academic partners to exchange knowledge, build new collaborations and contribute to the future development of the field.”
The visitors also enjoyed a guided tour of Tallinn’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town and praised both the city’s unique historical atmosphere and Tallinn University’s welcoming environment.
