Tallinn University celebrates its birthday with a charity concert in support for Ukraine

On 18 March, Tallinn University celebrates its 17th birthday, and on this occasion a charity concert for Ukraine will take place in the courtyard of the university starting at 16:00. The university student body has opened a support fund for charity to support the studies and residence of Tallinn University Ukrainian students in Estonia.

Well-known Estonian musicians, most of them students or alumni of Tallinn University, will perform at the charity concert. Among others, there are 5miinust, Ruslan Trochynskyi, Robert Linna, Marten Kuningas, Eik and Uudo Sepp. The event is hosted by Franz Malmsten, an Estonian actor and a student at Tallinn University.

According to Kristen Aigro, The Chairperson of the Student Body, the aim of the concert is to keep the attention of the war in Ukraine and to offer support to war refugees who are looking for a safe living environment in Estonia. "As the university supports Ukrainian students’ continuation of education here at Tallinn University, we opened a support fund led by the students, to which we are waiting for donations to provide financial support to our Ukrainian students," said Aigro.

To support Ukrainian students, students collect donations to following accounts:

When donating, students ask to add to the explanation "donation in support of Ukraine (your name, if desired)".

In addition to the fund, on 28 February, the students launched the student organisation Students With Ukraine to send food and basic necessities to the war refugees in Ukraine. A total of 47 buses, 7 cars and 1 truck have been filled with goods with the help of students, all of which have already reached the Ukrainian border to war refugees. With the help of students, for example, more than 10,000 diapers, 1250 liters of water and juice, 400 boxes of medical and hygiene supplies, 100 blankets, 50 extra beds and 40 sleeping bags have reached the border.

The university's birthday charity concert starts on 18 March at 16:00 in the university courtyard (Narva mnt 25). Participation in the concert is free.

The charity concert is supported by Saku Õlletehas, Eckerö Line, Kaubamaja, Balsnack, Tanker, Selver and the Põhjala factory.
