iCal calendarThe music of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt—renowned for its spiritual depth and minimalist beauty—has been widely used in Western film, television, and streaming media over the past thirty years. Although Pärt himself has not composed directly for these contexts, his works have been repeatedly appropriated by filmmakers to convey emotion, meaning, and transcendence.
In this public lecture, Professor Julie Hubbert from the University of South Carolina explores how Hollywood has incorporated Pärt’s compositions into soundtracks ranging from The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and Ted Lasso (2023) to There Will Be Blood (2007), highlighting how his music continues to inspire new interpretations and functions in modern media.
The lecture will be held in English and is open to everyone. To participate, please register here.
