My first year studying Crossmedia

Crossmedia is a great study programme for anyone who would like to work in an artistic field but is still figuring out in which field exactly.

My name is Philo, I’m 22 years old, I’m from Brittany, France and I’m a second year Crossmedia student in BFM. I moved to Tallinn three years ago for a volunteering service, and I decided to stay in Estonia after I found some studies that I was interested in.

I had heard about BFM’s reputation but I didn’t know much about Crossmedia before starting my studies. One thing I liked about BFM is that students are really encouraged to be creative. It is easy to get in contact with other creative people and to collaborate.

My first year of Crossmedia was really interesting, I like that our classes are pretty various from creative classes (writing, photography…) to technical ones (lighting, sound…) and others about communication (social media, new media economy, crossmedia…).

My most memorable moment in Crossmedia happened this year when my team was invited to Barcelona to present our Crossmedia project at the Audiovisual Talent Week. It is a team project that we started in spring, on our first year, and that is ongoing this autumn semester. Our team decided to make a documentary, social media content and an event about the car modification community in Tallinn. And I got to pitch it in front industry professionals in Barcelona and to discuss sponsorships with them.

I think Crossmedia is a great study programme for anyone who would like to work in an artistic field but is still figuring out in which field exactly. We get both creative, technical and communication knowledge to make us understand many aspects of the creative industry.
