The ADORE project aims to bring accessibility to the forefront of higher education curricula related to communication. The main objective is to mainstream accessibility skills in higher education curricula for communication disciplines and to train teaching staff on how to publish accessible content on the internet for all users. adore logo

With funding from the ERASMUS+ programme, the project will create an accessibility training toolkit that responds to the accessibility learning needs of university teachers and trainers in the field of communication. To date, the current situation has been analysed and gaps have been identified with regard to the accessibility training needs of university staff in the field of communication. The project team has researched the problems faced by people with disabilities, immigrants and the older adults in accessing content online. The team also explored higher education courses and programmes related to the field of communication where there is an opportunity to incorporate accessibility into the curriculum.

During the meeting, participants discussed the initial work for the creation of a needs-based accessibility training manual for university teaching and training staff working on higher education communication programmes. Part of the toolkit will focus on how training on accessible communication can be given in an inclusive way.

ADORE is carried out by a consortium of five European partners (Tallinn University, Funka Nu AB, University of Maribor, Paris-Lodron University Salzburg and the INUK Institut za napredno upravljanje komunikacij). ADORE is coordinated by Tallinn University Baltic Film, Media and Arts School. The project coordinator is Dr. Anastassia Zabrodskaja, Professor of Intercultural Communication, and Head of the MA programme in Communication Management.
