CALL FOR PAPERS: EHI Teaduspäev / EHI Research Day 2014
Add to calendar
iCal calendarDear fellow EHI people,
As you have been repeatedly forewarned during the past year, once again the time has come for taking stock of the ideas in your minds to see whether there is something to be shared and discussed with others. Namely, the Research Day of the Estonian Institute of Humanities (EHI Research Day) is upon us. There, in a cosy, collegial and supportive environment, one can test out one’s research topics and even one’s world view in a sense. Besides its role as a testing ground, it will serve as a superb source of a valuable feedback and a venue for even a more valuable presenting experience. The atmosphere of the EHI Research Day is indeed cordial and facilitating, so you shouldn’t shy away from the limelight.
EHI Research Day will take place on Tuesday, 4 March 2014. And as has already been stated, the aim of the event is to introduce the various research topics our people are involved in, promote interdisciplinary awareness and discussion and offer a venue for the young scholars to gain presentation experience.
In support of student and faculty research and creative activity, the EHI Research Day provides a perfect setting for presenting your research work or paper or research plan, discussing it, getting some feedback, and exchanging ideas. Therefore we encourage all of our EHI people – students, faculty and researchers alike – to come forward with their presentation proposals to inspire each other and perhaps even to refine their own thoughts.
Each participant will be allotted 30 minutes for their presentation, of which 15 to 20 minutes will be the actual presentation and 10 to 15 minutes will remain for questions and answers. These presentation durations may be subject to change depending on the total number of presentations to be included. The presentations will be made either in English or Estonian.
All interested in participating are expected to submit a narrative summary of their original research, scholarly or creative work. This abstract, of between 2,000 and 4,000 characters in length (spaces included) should be submitted by 14 February 2013 by e-mail to the address: minuehi@gmail.com
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us using the same e-mail address.
All presenters will receive our sincerest gratitude and respect as well as a token of appreciation from us!
We encourage you to participate, if:
- You have discovered something exciting and cannot wait to share it with others;
- You would like to get some feedback on your research;
- You are planning to graduate soon and could use a practice run in defending your final paper/thesis;
- You do not feel at ease in front of the crowds and would need some practice in public speaking;
- You just love to take a stand and share your views and opinions.
As on previous occasions, the Student Research Day will be held at the Senat Hall (M-648). The exact timetable will be announced by the end of February.
Truly,
EHI Student Council
