  • The new book "Teaching and learning at the University. Practices, developments, transformations” – Kai Pata

Edited by L.Jõgi, M.Ümarik and K.Pata Published in Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2020
The book introduces the research from interdisciplinary collaboration between School of Education, School of Digital Technologies and School of Natural Sciences and Health on the transformational effects of the interdisciplinary LIFE course as well as the experiences of other Scandinavian universities to change teaching and learning practices towards problem-based and interdisciplinary. The model how to build on ruptured situations in the development of the professional staff and the whole university is introduced.

  • Fostering the reuse of (Open) Cultural Data – Oleksandr Cherednichenko, Kai Pata

With the increasing number of cultural institutions digitizing and opening up their collections, there is still an issue of cultural data being entangled in the repositories and not actively reused. The presentation would briefly introduce the envisioned "Invisible Narva" initiative - a project aimed at fostering the reuse of Estonian open cultural data by developing an outdoors geospatial serious game with built-in connection to digital heritage repositories.

  • Open Society Technologies and Values – Kai Pata, Pirje Jürgens, Priit Tammets

Open Society Technologies master curriculum builds on the values’ based development of technologies. The presentation introduces some of our experimentations with developing the values' based technology evaluation and design approach.
We will introduce the future project activities together with School of Governance and Law to develop the governance services portfolio, the collaboration in the REGE project to develop dashboards for gender gap data. The programme draft of the planned Winter-school 2021 “Digital transformation for civic engagement” in cooperation with CitizensOS – a free e-democracy platform for collaborative decision-making, discussions and petitions.
