The dance theatre "Tee Kuubis" of Tallinn University Institute of Fine Arts
invites everyone to visit an exhibition of young performing artists created
as part of a project titled "Old Spaces, Living Art" (OSLA). The exhibition
is open from February 15–23 in the information centre of the Capital of
Culture at Rotermann Quarter (Rotermanni 5, Tallinn).The exhibition "City
Moves, Time Dances" marks the beginning of activities of the final year of
the performance project which began in 2009 and deals with the historical
city space of Tallinn. It is also part of the official programme of the
European Capital of Culture."Living history" is the main theme of the
project of young dance and new media artists, who work in the two capitals
of culture, Tallinn and Turku (Finland), at the same time. This is a
project combining different fields (video, history, cultural history,
dance, street theatre, art, architecture, youngsters, informal education,
etc) and its activities and productions are on show in the exhibition which
opened at the information centre of the Capital of Culture. The exhibits
include aesthetic film clips about life in Tallinn in different eras
created by students and alumni of Baltic Film and Media School and the
dancers of Tee Kuubis, reflections of the process of street theatre with
youngsters and information about the cooperation with the young artists
from Turku.The aim of OSLA is to offer a feeling of the space, people and
circumstances characteristic of different eras, to understand the
interconnections between them more deeply and to show how history has
influenced our life today.The project is organized by the dance theatre
"Tee Kuubis" (Tallinn University Department of Choreography) and presented
by European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011.Supporters and cooperation
partners include Youth in Action, Baltic Film and Media School, Kodak, Arts
Academy at Turku University of Applied Sciences and many others.
