My first real anthropological fieldwork happened in the third year of my bachelor’s. Al the articles read, all the lectures heard seemed to culminate in this experience for me. Walking home from one of my interviews, I was struck by a realisation: “this is it, you are an anthropologist!” Applying for MA in Anthropology was an easy and natural decision – a logica continuation of my bachelor’s studies.

From the very beginning, my professors have been supportive of the thesis project I have been developing through providing with relevant references or connecting me with people with interest or knowledge on the same topic. Moreover, our university enables and encourages to take part in international events connected to the topic of one’s thesis or to the field of anthropology in general. Another precious thing I found at Tallinn University are connections with very intelligent and talented people. The feeling of belonging to the anthropological community – “your own tribe” – inspires, empowers and motivates me every day for more work and larger contribution to the production and exchange of knowledge in Estonia and beyond.
