On 9 December at 4pm, Dr Sree Ganesh Thotempudi (University of Heidelberg) will offer a guest lecture at Tallinn University, titled “Digital Humanities for Social Sciences and Humanities”. The lecture will be held in room M-649

He will present the new research done by himself and his colleagues at the University of Heidelberg. The lecture will show how they established the relation between text and objects in the project ‘Semantic Blumenbach’, in which they endeavored to discover and to render visible the innate connections of Johann Friedrich Blumenbach’s (1752–1840) writings on natural history with the physical objects studied and collected by him. Next to this project, Dr. Sree Ganesh Thotempudi will also show a few practical demos on how to analyse metrical poetry with machines and the neural network-based OCR system.

The lecture will be held in room M-649.

All are welcome to attend.
