International conference Voting at age 16: problems and perspectives

The international conference Voting at age 16: problems and perspectives takes place in Tallinn University on 28 May, from 9.30 a.m. onwards, in room M-218. The conference is part of the project Vote 16: Impact analysis of lowering the voting age to 16.

The keynote speakers are from Austria, where the voting age has been 16 since 2007 for all elections, and from Norway, where the voting privileges were given temporarily to 16- and 17-year-olds in 2011 for local elections. The conference will introduce the results of the analysis for the project looking into the consequences and effect of lowering the voting age. This will be followed by a debate by the parliamentary parties about the perspectives of lowering the voting age in Estonia.
