SÜNKROON is a Music Estonia's new programme, aimed to develop the cooperation between music and audiovisual media sector in Estonia and internationally. The focus is on music in films, games, commercials and in brand communication.
The second SÜNKROON seminar focuses on the sound design in video games. The gaming business is a fast growing sector, including in Estonia. According to IGDA (International Game Developers Association), there are about 60 gaming-associated companies in Estonia. Already existing music may find its way into games, yet many of them require original soundscape to support the content, for which composers and music producers work closely together with major game companies.
How are music and sound created for video games? What kind of a skill set does it require? How to connect with the gaming industry as a composer or a producer? All of this will be discussed by the CEO and co-founder of a transmedia company, Konsta Klemetti and a game-focused composer Petri Alanko. After the presentations, there will be a discussion, moderated by Virgo Sillamaa, Director of Music Estonia.
Konsta Klemetti (FI) has been involved in the field of culture and entertainment for almost two decades. Currently, he’s the CEO of a transmedia studio Action Squad Studios and has formerly worked as a Marketing Lead and Music Publisher at Rovio Entertainment – organization behind the mobile game and a film Angry Birds. He has also worked in several advertising agencies and has been a producer at Music Export Finland, a start-up founded by him.
Petri Alanko (FI) is a BAFTA nominated composer, musician and a producer. His repertoire ranges from the electronic music to fine classical score. His latest opus is the electronic sci-fi score for Remedy’s next cinematic blockbuster, Quantum Break. Alanko is also an active musician and has recorded two critically acclaimed albums.
