The TU Baltic Film and Media School is organizing a new course entitled
“The Creative Industries and Cultural Policy in Europe”. The course
lecturers are Bernd Hartmann (Stuttgart/ Germany) and Jan Runge (Brussels/
Belgium), both of whom are recognized professionals in their field. The
intensive week-long course from October 25 to 29, consists of 10
lecture/seminars as well as  discussions with leading experts in the
creative industries in Estonia.The course introduces students to the
different social, cultural and economic policies which regulate the
cultural and creative industries in Europe - whether by means of public
funding, networking, training initiatives or through top-down regulations
such as copyright law. It identifies and analyses these interventions at
the local, national and EU levels and provides practical examples and case
studies to illustrate the key issues.The competitiveness of the European
creative industry is strongly influenced by the policy goals of the
European Union. Therefore, this course has been designed for future
entrepreneurs in the creative industries as well as future practitioners in
cultural institutions and relevant bodies in the public sector. The course
