On Wednesdays we focus on Estonian films, showing both classics and the best of the past few years. Every screening is preceded by a short commentary, a meeting with filmmakers or BFM lecturers.
The Cinema University launched on February 3rd with Frederico Fellinis 1962 classic “8½”.
The first Estonian film shown will be “Mandarines”, the Estonian-Georgian drama, which is currently running for an Oscar. Before the screening, we meet the producer Ivo Felt.
In February we will also show Pawel Pawlikowski’s “Ida”, which won the European Film Academy movie of the year award and is also running for an Oscar, as well as “La Promesse” by Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne (suggested by guest lecturer Wouter Hessels). The Estonian films scheduled are “Zero point” by Mihkel Ulk, “Naerata ometi” by Leida Laius and Arvo Iho and “Names on Marble” by Elmo Nüganen.
