Tallinna Ülikool

With this open call, „Inclusive mentoring practices with an emphasis on diversity and equal treatment in research and teaching“, we seek for an international professional to carry out a workshop for doctoral supervisors in November 2022 at the Tallinn University, Estonia. The tentative calendar for the workshop will start from November 7th and last for six weeks.

The participatory workshop aims to provide measures for outstanding quality in doctoral supervision with specific focus on equality, diversity, and inclusion in interpersonal academic relationships. The specific focus of this workshop will be on gender equality while other aspects such as sexuality, ethnicity, (dis)ability, age, and other protected characteristics will be covered, too, and their intersection with gender will be demonstrated. Tailored specifically for the needs of Estonian academic context, the workshop aims to pay specific attention to unconscious biases.

After the workshop, the participant should have a knowledge of the legislative basis of EDI issues in Estonian and European Union’s context, as well as new tools and language to be a more informed supervisor.

In addition to participating in lectures and seminars both the doctoral supervisors and doctoral students will be involved by the lecturer in interactive debates, group work, and practical exercises to encourage them to think about their own attitudes towards EDI issues.

The language of the workshop is English. The workshop will be held with physical presence or as a hybrid workshop (depending on the Covid-19 situation in Estonia in the Autumn Semester 2022/2023). In case hybrid or virtual learning might be necessary, Zoom is the preferred medium.
If necessary, travel and accommodation will be provided by the organizer.

To express your interest, please send a proposal with the expected fee and an abstract fit for the workshop’s topics to the email address  PhD@tlu.ee. Deadline for the submission is 20.07.2022.
