On October 11th and 12th, Professor Nikolai Bogomolov from Moscow
State University will give a series of public lectures entitled ``The
Man of the Silver Age: Personal Characteristics´´. Invited by the TU
Institute of Slavonic Languages and Cultures, Professor Bogomolov will
be delivering a lecture as part of the international seminar ``Soviet Text
in Russian Emigration Culture. Emigration Text in the Soviet Culture´´At
the beginning of the 20th century, Russia entered a period when its culture
flourished. The ``Silver Age´´was born partly as a result of the
power of its creators as well as the power of the people it
influenced. The lectures analyze the Silver Age as a complex
phenomenon, when writers, actors and artists were themselves influenced by
the very society which they were seeking to influence.Professor Nikolai
Bogomolov works in the Moscow State University, Department of Journalism.
He is a well-known Russian literary critic whose main field of study is
20th century Russian culture and literature, known as the ``Silver Age´´.
His work has been published in well-known journals such as ``Russkaja
Literatura´´, ``Novoje Literaturnoje Obozrenije´´, and ``Voprosõ
Literaturõ´´. He is the  author of over 300 scholarly works,
including "Lines Illuminated by October" (Moscow, 1987), "Mikhail Kuzmin:
articles and materials" (Moscow 1995), "Poetic Speech" (Moscow, 1995),
"Mikhail Kuzmin: A Life in Art (co-author J.E. Malmstad)" (Moscow 1996,
English version - Harvard University Press, 1999), "Early Twentieth Century
Russian Literature and Occultism" (Moscow, 1999), "Russian Literature of
the First Third of the Twentieth Century: Portraits, Issues,
Investigations" (Tomsk, 1999).The lectures will take place on:Monday,
October 11 at 16:15 in room S-333 (TU Silva building, Narva Road 29) and
Tuesday, October 12 at 12:15-13:45 in room S-333 (TU Silva building) and at
14:15-15:45 in room T-318 (TU Terra building, Narva Road 25).
